DDS-60

Postby KD4VVC » Fri Apr 11, 2014 8:31 pm

I am new to the Arduino, having just completed a few intoductory books and the small testing projects presented in them. I am a software guy, but have little experience interfacing hardware at this level. I want to build the Sweeper project and carry it on to a variable frequency, graphing antenna analyzer. I was hoping to follow the recipe in the book, learning from that and then growing the project from there. My problem is, I am having problems finding the DDS-60 as specified in the book. The website indicates they expected to have somoe available in Febuary, still none. I have tried to contact them, and can get no response on queries as to the status of them........

Does anyone know the status of the DDS-60, know where I might acquire one, or know of a DDS I could use instead.....again, I was hoping to use project code to start with to learn from it, I do not want to get a device where the code would have to be altered significantly.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

The easiest thing to do aside from finding a DDS-60 is to get a DDS board and add the amplifier. I haven't tried doing this yet but if the DDS-60's are going to be unavailable we might have to.

I agree, looks like the amp and perhaps a low-pass filter to duplicate the DDS-60, if you went with something like this.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390808417874?ss ... 1439.l2649

I ordered a DDS similar to the one you linked, but from an Ebae supplier in New York. It shows a lowpass filter on the schematic so if the amplifier is linear enough perhaps that filter will be sufficient. I may be able to design a PCB for the amplifier, for those who are patient. For those in a hurry I would suggest duplicating the DDS-60 circuit on a breadboard.

DDS-60's are available again, both in kit and assembled form, according to the website.

I have not tried to order one, but this does appear to be new information on their site.

I ordered an assembled DDS-60 from Midnight Designs on Friday, May 30, and received it on Monday, June 2, so they are now shipping completed units. They also list the kits as being ready to ship.
